Choose your game master in FreedomRPG
FreedomRPG offers three game masters: Swift, Storyteller, and Mythic. Each uses a different Claude model. You can change your choice in Settings, including while continuing an existing game.
Watch: How to Pick a Game Master in FreedomRPG
The three game masters
| Game master | Model |
|---|---|
| Swift | Claude Sonnet 5.5 |
| Storyteller | Claude Opus 5.5 |
| Mythic | Claude Fable 5.1 |
Swift is the default for new accounts. Freedom marks Storyteller as the recommended option in the selector. Existing accounts keep their saved choice.
All three work with your story’s characters, places, rules, and history. Your choice also applies in the World Builder.
Compare them in your own story
Choose a game master in Settings and continue playing. You do not need to start a new game to try another one.
Different models can handle prose, instructions, and scenes differently. Try them with the kind of story you want to play, and use the per-turn credit display to see what your turns cost. Costs vary with the work the game master does.
If your game switches to the fallback
If your selected Claude model refuses story content, Freedom switches that game to Grok 4.6 so the story can continue. This can happen during a reply or while the game master summarizes earlier events. Temporary service errors use separate retries and do not activate this fallback.
Your saved world and story history stay in place. Grok can write and follow instructions differently from your usual game master, and it can still refuse a scene.
The fallback stays active for that game across turns and reconnects. Changing your preferred game master does not turn it off.
To return, wait for the current turn to finish. Open the Game panel on desktop or Settings on mobile, then choose Return to normal game master. Your selected game master handles future replies without restarting or rewinding the story.
The fallback can activate again if your normal game master refuses later content, including while summarizing earlier events.
